yogaeverydamnday Hace varios días que no hacía mi practica personal y hoy decidí retomar con #Sirsasana, es una postura básica, pero que me genera miedo a la hora de dejar la pared y los props. Hoy mi cuerpo estuvo totalmente alejado de la pared con un pequeño soporte en la espalda para sentir seguridad. Hay mucho por mejorar en cuanto a alineación pero el principal reto está en conseguir callar la mente 😊🕉

yogaeverydamnday I am so happy I just went for it TTY, so many years I been putting it off saying I’ll do it when I finish school or it’s just not the right time. I am start my training while still going to school, working my jobs and take care of twin boys. I feel like this is where I need to be and god knew when the right time way and pushed at that time. I already feel the difference in where this may bring me and person I will be come. Just remember the journey never stops and you can always improve ! #teachertraining #yogaeverydamnday #innerjourney #innersoul

And I listened.

His rationale was that if I do yoga my joints and ligaments would all lose stability. I'd get weak and  become broken... I took his advice and over the course of six months I subsequently became stiffer, weaker, and incurred a shoulder injury.

This was years ago, but it taught me a lesson that I'll never forget.

No one is an expert on everything and never take advice from somone on a subject they know nothing about. 🤣

The thing is yoga can be dangerous and lead to bad outcomes...but so can a lot of things.

It's all about balance. 
Theres a limit to how big and strong you can get before your joints start to hurt or you become limited in your movement... Theres a limit to how long you can restrict food before your metabolism starts to tank.

Theres a limit to how long you can work before the quality of your output drops.

What's the threshold for these limits?

Well, that's subjective... But if you're no longer getting better from your hard work...maybe its time to change things up or take a break.

I get a lot of enquiries from Gumtree in Australia, which came as a big surprise to me. 🙏 Create a fundraising event and offer a donated-based class. Choose something that is really close to your heart. 🙏 If you are offering something worth spreading on a wider scale, use media! There is a huge potential there. Connect with your local newspaper and send them a PR news that describes the event. 🙏 Connect with holistic and wellness business that you already know and create a Pop-up Yoga event together. Run yoga classes in the most unusual places to bring more awareness and yoga love. 🙏 Share your gifts, classes and workshops at the Art and Community Centre. They usually have a bigger following and if they will be interested you can gain huge exposure with little effort.

I’m at a weird stage in my pregnancy where clothing is hard to feel sexy or even “right” In. I’ve been living in yoga pants and billowy dresses or in my new preggo jeans as of late. Thank you so much @buddha_pants for sending me so many beautiful items that make me feel like myself ...but even more so. I’ve been feeling super goddessy and primal-feminine recently; someone even noticed and mentioned my fiery change in demeanor after one of my yoga classes this week. 
I can’t wait to keep discovering how to embrace my new body in different ways. 💖 there was a time in my life when all I wanted to do was shrink; I’m excited to now don my new curves and a belly that connects me not only my baby, but to all life.

yogaeverydamnday I went to driving school this year and I've been driving since then and just a few months in, I can see my driving skills improving (not great, but better)

In comparison, I took a few German language units in college. I had really good grades. But I haven't conversed nor read or watched anything German since those two sems, so now I can only go as far as "Good morning, how are you?" It's the same thing in a yoga class. How you do in class is not as important as what you do when you step out off the mat. You can be all zen as you chant "Om shanti" but you gotta bring that with you as you step out into the world and face, say, Manila traffic and drivers, or your annoying work situation, or any small inconvenience you encounter.

And it's not just yoga. Apply that to your crystals, your essential oils, your fidget spinner, your Bible group or whatever coping mechanism or ritual that you have. The point is this: it's not what you do, but how you use it in your daily life that creates impact and change.

yogaeverydamnday Today I witnessed something that made my heart hurt. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

I was checking out at a grocery store earlier this evening when a man who may or may not have been without a home came into the self checkout area. He politely told the clerk that he was preparing for an interview, and was going to the restroom. He nicely asked the clerk if he could set down his things for a moment, and if he could watch it for him temporarily.
⠀⠀⠀⠀
The associate turned to the man, gave him a dirty look, and replied, “I ain’t watching that.” The man looked defeated, set down his things, and left. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know rationally that the behavior of others isn’t something I can control. I also know that our behaviors reflect the way we’re feeling, and how we feel toward ourselves. But, it still breaks my heart to see someone treating another person so disrespectfully because of their circumstance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
Was the clerk busy? Debatable. BUT—he could have declined to help the man in a more compassionate way. He didn’t have to scoff and look down his nose at the man; he didn’t have to say he wouldn’t watch his things the way he did. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whether you’re in a good space, or somewhere in between, please try to remember that being kind is free, and that the ways you treat people will come back to you in time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’m taking the rest of the night off to rest because this person right here is exhausted and needs a B-R-E-A-K. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you have the sound on, you'll have the pleasure of listening to me say (in the dumbest voice ever) "just lift me, it's not that hard" lol. Like, come on @dharana.photo, it's 115 pounds, get it together. I lose my sh*t laughing every time I watch this nonsense. At least we didn't pick an impossible pose (*cough* @kymmequity). yogaeverydamnday I am often asked how I can be strong and flexible at the same time. The truth is, I am strong and mobile but not super flexible.
•••
Mobility is the range of motion with your joints and is predicted by your individual anatomy. Your range of motion stops when your bones compress on one another, when there is nowhere else to go, you stop moving. Of course, muscular resistance and tightness, baggage from injuries, etc. play a part in range of motion, but that can shift with commitment, patience, and time.
•••
Flexibility is the elasticity in your muscles. The stronger you become, the less stretchy your muscles will be. It’s important to create a balance between the two.  Too much of one and not enough of the other will create imbalances in your body, can prolong recovery, and can ultimately lead to injury.
•••
Because my muscles are strong(er), I give up some of the elasticity, however it is necessary in order to protect my loose joints.
•••
If you want to play the long game, combine mindful mobility with your strength training or strength training with your yoga practice.
Do the work, with love.

yogaeverydamnday Five years ago, tonight, my dad past away from heart diseases and I think that was the moment when everything changed for me. I decided to somehow change my lifestyle and take better care of myself. I won't lie, it took a while to get there and it wasn't easy. I was beginning to have health issues, like my dad, completely stressed out and never found the motivation to really make an actual change. But setting the goal to bike #VENTOUX gave me the strenght and focus I needed. Surprisingly during this "journey" I found myself to discover I was stronger than I thought and letting go of past behaviours was the key. So to all of you who reached out telling me I'm an inspiration, I send ❤❤

yogaeverydamnday TODAY’S PRACTICE :::: it’s not every day that I get to lock in like I did today. Grateful for the time to go within and do this work. Here’s what a my daily practice looks like for me lately:

To transition from one state of being, one activity to another with clear intention is to harness the maximum potential of our time and attention. Even if it’s just a 10 second pause and deep breath to re-center, ground, and proceed from there. Transitions can be tough to navigate because we always want to be in control, in motion, making something happen. When I sit to begin my practice, tuning in with mantra creates a powerful energetic container, you can also see it as PRAYER. You’re literally calling your angels, guides, teachers, and spirit family to assemble. It’s a call to the heart, soul, divine and Truth to come forward and stretch itself into and around my life.

Then I WARM UP
➖ Cat / Cow spinal flexion is a solid, foolproof start. I wrote a whole post about it but basically, it gets the energy going and opens up the principal three energetic channels (nadis) in the spine: the central Sushumna, the lunar / feminine Ida, and the solar / masculine Pingala. It starts to build heat and releases muscular tension while creating a clear space for energy to FLOW
➖ Spinal twists continue that release and opening along the lateral spine
➖ Breath of fire via Ego Eradicator — it’s a simple technique that resets your electromagnetic field so that the energy you project is coherent, balanced, and from the heart (not the cuckoo mind/ego). Plus it begins to activate your navel center. Which brings me to the next warm up activity:
➖ Stretch pose; sounds so nice and relaxing but lol nope! It’s a b*tch. But let me tell you — if you want to get sh*t done and wake your energy up you will HAVE TO activate your navel center. Stretch pose does it in the most straightforward and powerful way.
➖ A few Sufi grinds to release and reset my hips/lower back and then we’re set to head into the meditations...

When I sit to begin my practice, tuning in with mantra creates a powerful energetic container, you can also see it as PRAYER. You’re literally calling your angels, guides, teachers, and spirit family to assemble. It’s a call to the heart, soul, divine and Truth to come forward and stretch itself into and around my life. 🔥 Then I WARM UP ➖ Cat / Cow spinal flexion is a solid, foolproof start. I wrote a whole post about it but basically, it gets the energy going and opens up the principal three energetic channels (nadis) in the spine: the central Sushumna, the lunar / feminine Ida, and the solar / masculine Pingala. It starts to build heat and releases muscular tension while creating a clear space for energy to FLOW ➖ Spinal twists continue that release and opening along the lateral spine ➖ Breath of fire via Ego Eradicator — it’s a simple technique that resets your electromagnetic field so that the energy you project is coherent, balanced, and from the heart (not the cuckoo mind/ego). Plus it begins to activate your navel center. Which brings me to the next warm up activity: ➖ Stretch pose; sounds so nice and relaxing but lol nope! It’s a b*tch. But let me tell you — if you want to get sh*t done and wake your energy up you will HAVE TO activate your navel center. Stretch pose does it in the most straightforward and powerful way. ➖ A few Sufi grinds to release and reset my hips/lower back and then we’re set to head into the meditations... 🧘🏻‍♀️ KRIYAS / MEDITATIONS ➖ Hast Kriya :: from heaven to earth. This is a slightly painful Kriya but it is a good pain👇

yogaeverydamnday After class fun. Not too shabby for my first attempt at a peacock hybrid. Definitely need some arm adjustment, so it will be better next time.  Hardest part is to actually go for it the first time. All you need is a little push and just the right amount of confidence 😘

yogaeverydamnday Hi friends👋🏼! I’m still here, I’ve just been struggling on finding the dedication to post stuff. I’ve been trying to keep up with my ig stories but content for posting has left me feeling like my words wouldn’t be good enough. Or authentic. Major transitions are happening in our family and I’m just trying to stay afloat at this point. What keeps me going is first and foremost my family; my partner, my girls, my extended family. Secondly, my yoga classes. Being able to teach and hold space for others allows me the time to focus on opening myself up to be a vessel for someone else and their feelings or be a creative human for an hour or so, to kind of reignite my potential. I always leave my classes feeling inspired and “needed”. I am on this long winding journey of postpartum health (mental and physical), some days are good, some days are great, some days are hard, some days are dreadful, some days pass and I wonder how I made it. But THIS much I do know: I have hope. Hope has not left my heart. I hold on and will continue to do so because I am a vessel of strength and love. I am needed and I am worthy. I know this all will pass and I will look back and be so fucking proud of myself. I look forward to that time, I dream about it and I will continue to chase that dream! To all my friends, family, supporters and community, from the bottom of my struggling heart, THANK YOU. Please continue to wrap me with patience, support and love. yogaeverydamnday Finding balance is hard, in yoga and in life. Eagle pose, or Garudasana requires that you do just that. #Balance. This is something that I’m constantly struggling with, which is why I think I gravitate to this pose so much. In this pose I feel strong composed and in control, something that can be hard to do in life. The Eagle is a constant reminder for me that with concentration and focus I can with stand all tasks.
