protein I've done pretty well with my progress over the last couple months. I've lost 10-14 pounds (depending on the day and water weight), and my clothes and measurements show I've lost several inches. But it's time to kick it up a notch. Lots of people are jumping on the #75hard  bandwagon, but I'm going to try the #carnivore version. I'm hoping for:
1. Improved gut health and better digestion
2. Increased immune health and resistance
3. Stronger willpower
4. Better skin
5. And surprisingly this is last on my list, but more fat loss.

Butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, garlic, chickpeas and garden peas. Veggie stock cubes and shit loads of herbs. So absolutely stuffed with tasty nutritious speedy veg and some that are higher in protein so I can grow some lean ass muscle when i get my head into a gym routine eventually 🙈🙈🙈

Before anyone misinterprets what I’m saying, I first want to say that this post is NOT about hating on cardio. Rather, I want to address the misconception that shedding body fat and improving body composition is mostly about doing as much cardio as you possibly can. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I see many women in particular relying on mind-numbing hours of cardio and bootcamp/circuit-style classes in an attempt to achieve the lean, svelte physique they covet. If you genuinely love it, that’s fine - keep doing it. But be aware that that is not the best exercise modality for body composition purposes. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Progressive overload refers to doing more over time. Increase the load, perform an extra rep, increase the range of motion... these all count. Lifting weights with 2lb dumbbells for ultra high reps and stopping 50 reps shy of failure when you can clearly lift far more is not going to cut it. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Don’t be afraid to embrace strength training and get strong. ⁣⁣

Rather, I want to address the misconception that shedding body fat and improving body composition is mostly about doing as much cardio as you possibly can. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I see many women in particular relying on mind-numbing hours of cardio and bootcamp/circuit-style classes in an attempt to achieve the lean, svelte physique they covet. If you genuinely love it, that’s fine - keep doing it. But be aware that that is not the best exercise modality for body composition purposes. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Progressive overload refers to doing more over time. Increase the load, perform an extra rep, increase the range of motion... these all count. Lifting weights with 2lb dumbbells for ultra high reps and stopping 50 reps shy of failure when you can clearly lift far more is not going to cut it. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Don’t be afraid to embrace strength training and get strong. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

First lets touch on what protein actually is.
⠀⠀
Protein is one of our three macronutrients (technically 4 if you count alcohol), and it is one of only two essential macronutrients (the other one being fat).

Protein is an ‘essential part of all living organisms, especially components of body tissues such as muscle, hair, etc and as enzymes and antibodies’, according to the Oxford Dictionary (1). Our body cannot produce it on its own, therefore it needs to be ingested (by way of food).
⠀⠀
Protein is actually present in most foods (for example white rice, potatoes, bananas… of course only in very small quantities compared to higher protein foods such as chicken breast, dairy, eggs etc.).
⠀⠀
That means we all NEED protein and we all CONSUME protein.
⠀⠀
The question is just how much for whom and for what goal and are there consequences if we eat too much (or too little)?.
