moviereviews [Follow: @movie.updates247] So the FIFTH RAMBO movie has now hit theaters! But before I give you my review, let me just give you my quick thoughts of what I think of the RAMBO movies. First RAMBO movie was amazing! I loved it! Just a fun 80’s action movie. RAMBO 2 and RAMBO 3....ehhh. RAMBO 4 loved it as well! Now let’s get into RAMBO LAST BLOOD. I’ll just get straight to the point, I liked it! It’s not a GREAT! Movie but it’s also not a terrible movie. It definitely doesn’t deserve all the hate it’s getting but I understand why some people might hate this movie. For starters the pacing isn’t so great, it does feel slow at some parts. There isn’t really a lot of action. This feels more like a drama movie which I don’t mind. In fact I actually teared at one part. So props to them. Also That final act is just PURE RAMBO! Loved it! Overall I thought this was a decent movie 👍 Should you rush to the theater to see it? No not really but you should still check it I’m out sometime.

moviereviews Movie Review - The Karate Kid (2010)
•••
PG , 140 Minutes
•••
When his mother's career results in a move to China, 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) finds that he is a stranger in a strange land. Though he knows a little karate, his fighting skills are no match for Cheng, the school bully. Dre finds a friend in Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), a maintenance man who is also a martial-arts master. Mr. Han teaches Dre all about kung fu in the hope that Dre will be able to face down Cheng and perhaps win the heart of a pretty classmate named Mei Ying.
•••
I’m going to begin this review by talking about a minor flaw that in a sense, is a major flaw. This movie is called “The Karate Kid”, and acts as a remake of the 1984 original. The word “karate” is mentioned three times throughout the entire script, all in one scene, in which Dre explains to his mom that it’s kung fu he’s learning, not karate. Not only does this make the title somewhat misleading, but it shows the title was only really selected to turn a profit on the nostalgia of the original. This could’ve been a completely unrelated film that still had many similarities, but didn’t spit on the name of quality movies of last generation. Jaden Smith is really lifeless as the protagonist and doesn’t bring anything to his thinly written character. It goes through all the beats you’d expect something like this to hit, but with much less gusto than usual. And the runtime is way too long. Boring movies typically get credit if they aren’t overly long, but there’s no need for this to be two hours and 20 minutes. It finishes stronger than it starts, so I finished on a slightly better note, but it’s not anything I’d really consider praising. The Karate Kid remake is a soulless attempt at money that further blurs the line of if 2010 was a fantastic movie year or a disastrous one.

moviereviews Good Boys (2019) review: [8/10]
-
⚠️ THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS ⚠️
-
This movie was really enjoyable and hilarious.
It was really relaxing.
And fun to watch.
It was a pretty good comedy flick.
And it was very similar to Superbad.
About 3 guys, Going to a party, But ended up in a bad situation.
Exactly like in Superbad.
But with kids.
It's also more modernized than Superbad.
The jokes were also toned down.
Since they had kids in it.
Both movies were really similar.
Both movies also had Seth Rogen involved.
Coincidence? Hmm...
But all i can say, Is this was a very enjoyable great movie.
The storyline was great, It was exciting.
It wasn't dragging.
The actings were great as well.
Especially the kids's actings.
The camera angles and shots were decent.
Not too bad.
The jokes were pretty dumb yet funny too in a few scenes.
Some were very adult and dark jokes.
But some were just straight dumb funny ones.
The basic plot was decent.
Can't say much about the movie.
Other than the fact that it's enjoyable and awesome to watch.
Overall, This movie was very fun to watch.
It's not really for kids, But teens are acceptable.
The jokes are pretty good.
Better than the jokes in Superbad actually.
Camera angles, Shots, They were decent.
Storyline was pretty good.
And man, It was entertaining.
-
Fun Fact: In the opening Point Grey logo, one of the things written on a school desk is "Thor=Sippy Cup," which later becomes the film's plot point.

moviereviews ..SPEECHLESS🤭🤭 #SamRockwell in #ThreeBillboards is the best he’s ever been🤯🤯 I loved him in #TheWayWayBack a few years ago and it’s still one of my favorites of his, but I’ve been glad so see him popping up in bigger films since. His role as #Bush in #Vice was HILARIOUS and gave the movie exactly what it needed, and his leading role in #BestOfEnemies was PHENOMENAL! But his role in Three Billboards FAR exceeds anything he’s done before in my opinion. The movie itself is very unpredictable and he may be the most unpredictable character out of all of them. Every line out of his mouth is PURE GOLD and his character arch is one of the best in the film.
I look back at performances like this one as examples of nominations or a wins that elevate the category as a whole and set a new standard. Every year we get a group of nominees and with it, performances deemed #OscarWorthy, but it’s not every year that the performances on this list are better than what we’ve ever seen before.
Rockwell probably gave one of the top 5 performances I’ve ever seen and he DEFINITELY raised the bar in the #BestSupportingActor category.

moviereviews Spider Man: Far From Home was directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom Holland, Samuel L Jackson, Jake Gylenhall, and Zendaya. This was a nice and more lighthearted antidote to the soul crushing behemoth that was endgame. I love spider man movies and I loved homecoming so it came as no surprise when I enjoyed this movie. I liked that homecoming’s villain had a twist and there are definitely a few twists to be had in this film-particular relating to Happy Hogan’s dating life. Jokes aside, I think it was a healthy choice to bring spider man globetrotting instead of sticking to Queens like pretty much every spider flick we’ve seen as it gave a change of scenery and made for some entertaining setpieces. The effects were also great and led to some really cool VFX sequences reminiscent of doctor strange. Tom Holland once again was great as spider man and still feels like a believable teenager with flaws and awkwardness. I also appreciated the twist ending that would have force the franchise to go in a new and interesting direction, although with the spider man deal falling through its likely we won’t get to see the end of that particular storyline.

After seeing the news that spider man is out of the MCU I think it’s a mistake. Part of what made this specific iteration of spider man great was his connections to the MCU and it’s characters. While I’m sure Sony is capable of making a good spider man movie as they’ve done so before, it remains to be seen if it can recapture the same magic of the original.

Essentially test or teaser footage of what the tone and look of 'Jurassic World 3' is going to be like when it releases in 2021. A family on a camping trip to Big Rock National Park, about 20 miles from where Fallen Kingdom has ended, witness and become involved with a confrontation between some dinosaurs.

I'm not the biggest Jurassic Park fan (first movie is obviously a classic but I can't really remember anything about 2 or 3 because its been years since I've watched them) and the two Jurassic World installments didn't really do anything for me at all.

What I liked about 'Battle At Big Rock' is that it goes for a more horror element, with the dark lighting and the Allosaurus immediately brutally attacking the young Triceratops. For a short film the CGI is still impressive (obviously having the budget of Universal behind it helps) and the family performances were fine. The quick phone camera style end credit montage at the end of the short was entertaining and an interesting look at dinosaurs in society.

However the darker approach is welcome yet the lighting is so dark at times you can barely see what's going on at all. Also the ending where the little girl shoots crossbow bullets at the Allosaurus and scaring it off was cheesy and it shows that the film will never be fully away from the goofy and family friendly focus, which obviously is understandable, the previous two films both made over $1 billion each. Also I think the whole spectacle of seeing dinosaurs on screen has worn thin due to us being so used to it and seeing far more visually interesting and original creatures in film and TV.

I've seen some articles say how this 'saves the franchise', which it really doesn't its a just under 9 minute distraction with some impressive effects for a short and a horror focused tone. However you have seen it all before and this doesn't really add anything new and hasn't got me hyped or more interesting for 'Jurassic World 3'

moviereviews On my way to see this I was hoping for more of a First Blood, which I always felt was a decent film, looking at the isolation of someone who was mentally scarred by what he'd seen in the armed forces. The problem with the Rambo films was that they became increasingly ridiculous as the series progressed, taking on tanks with a crossbow by the time 3 rolled around.

The other hope was that Rambo would be treated to the kind of send off Rocky is getting, especially in the excellent Creed films, sadly what we got was Rambo jumping a Rambo sized shark!

I didn't hate this film, I enjoy Stallone on screen and of course there is the pleasant feeling that comes with some 80's nostalgia, but that said, Rambo deserved better than this. The plot has more holes than the bad guys when John finishes with them, the premise makes no sense even though the whole story is signposted in 25ft high letters from the start.

It's a predictable, plodding story that exists only as the platform for the last 30 minutes of full on insanely graphic Rambo revenge action, which introduces a range of new and intriguing killing methods that makes Tarantino look like Walt Disney.

If this is to be the last outing of John Rambo it's a disappointing one, a bit of a mess, with a ridiculous plot, but not without a splash of full on Rambo for good measure and it is only 89 minutes long!

moviereviews Hustlers (2019)

7.9/10

Come on girl gang! Hustlers is a fresh look into the world of stripping and the lengths these ladies will go to to keep the cash flowing during the 2008 recession. There was a good mixture of up tempo, fun, light hearted scenes with some heavier scenes sprinkled in. I appreciated the mix of women in the movie, highlighting that there’s not just one type of stripper and their reasons for being there are varied. Overall, this was a fun film great for a girls night. I do recommend but Hustlers doesn’t have to be seen in theaters. It truly might serve better as a feature for a night in, of course, it might also give you ideas for a fun night out 😉 #hustlersmovie #moviereviews

moviereviews ★★★★★★★★★★
.
In this wryly sweet rom-com, physical therapist Eva (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) starts to date fellow divorcee Albert (James Gandolfini). When she discovers he's the ex husband of new friend and client Marianne (Catherine Keener), Eva doesn't let the cat out of the bag. Actions have consequences though, and she's eventually forced to face them.
.
'Enough Said' shuns the mould of standard rom-coms, offering a realistic story starring adults rather than teens for a change. I've worked my way though Nicole Holofcener's filmography since being won over by 'Friends with Money' a while back, and this is easily the best movie the writer-director has made to date.
.
I've said this before - about 'Can You Ever Forgive Me?' - but Holofcener has a knack for crafting characters who are fundamentally flawed yet likeable and forgivable. And that's exactly what she does here, helped by Louis-Dreyfus' innate charm and surprisingly natural onscreen chemistry with the late Gandolfini - who, unbelievably, argued he wasn't right for the role.

He certainly was though, showing the audience a much softer side than usual and hinting at the wider range we may have seen if he hadn't sadly passed. Holofcener's terrific longtime collaborator Keener is also a perfect antagonist in this tale about mid-life romance, the ugliness of fault-finding, and the beauty of compromise and forgiveness. What's more, Holofcener seems to understand each of these themes through her own experience or otherwise.
.
Overall, 'Enough Said' is a smart, beautiful story. Its ending - pleasing but not soppy - will leave you with all the feels and desperate for more of this incredible filmaker's work.

moviereviews I have been promoted to true cinephile thanks to my viewing of Pulp Fiction, the greatest motion-picture of all time. No longer will I be judged by the stuck-up film experts for not reviewing this film as now I am one of them. I am a pure cinema expert. I know all and have seen all I ever need to. You all should bow down before me as I am your new cinephile master. From this point onwards I hate all superhero movies except the MCU, The Dark Knight and Watchmen. Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino are the best directors of all time and I shall not be watching any film with a Rotten Tomatoes score lower than 90% (even though they’re lying scum being paid by Disney).
.
But in all seriousness, Pulp Fiction is pretty good. It lives up to its hype and deserves its spot in many ‘greatest films ever made’ lists. Pulp Fiction is refreshing to watch. There is no straightforward story with straight forward characters that are forcibly thrust upon you through manipulating scores and dialogue, but rather a mix of three slightly connected stories told in another nonlinear structure with a bunch of realistic characters being themselves built up through neutral dialogue that allows viewers to like or dislike them as they please. The same is with the cinematography. Tarantino fills the film with long static takes that allow audiences to absorb everything going on in the image and focus on what they want to see, from the perfect mise-en-scene like the detailed locations or stylish costumes, but also the quiet yet raw emotions of the characters. Something I’ve noticed Tarantino is brilliant at is making real-life locations look neutral enough to feel like real-life but also have a very unique stylish twist to them, so every shot feels special.
.
The dialogue is, as we all know by now, pretty next level. They don’t call him the King of Dialogue for nothing, because oh fucking man it is so fucking good. The characters themselves rarely do anything. Sometimes there’s some shooting, but apart from all looking hella cool, there’s nothing overtly special about any of them… Well, not until the sweet dialogue comes in. (continued->)

moviereviews EXTENDED REVIEW:

I don’t remember ever seeing ‘batman’ before so I didn’t know what to expect, especially since some of these films are remarkable and some of them are simply dreadful. Generally I was happily surprised though, but I was defiantly not blown away by it. However, something I immediately noticed and liked was Tim Burton’s directing which really went well with the themes and attitudes within the movie, letting you immediately know the Bruce Wayne’s story is a dark one.
.
The whole plot is very typical to a lot of the batman films we’ve seen so far, especially those with the joker in it, although it would’ve been fairly new at the time so I’d give it a pass on that. But the action supporting the plot is generally a bit disappointing as it feels like everything is being held back a fair amount, so it’s not as gritty as I wanted it to be. But the whole product is still entertaining none the less.
.
The quality defiantly feels very dated, though alliances obviously must be made for the age. The sound effects, especially with the shooting, was incredibly off and felt like a really old mobster movie which was out of touch. Almost the entire score as well was very cliche, though it did its job fairly well, with a very tacky soundtrack also supporting it. The cinematography was very dark and disappointing with a colour palette that was too boring to work.
.
I must admit, the acting could do with some improvement at times, though the main cast did do very well. Michael Keaton brought class, grace and strength to Bruce Wayne in a style that is slightly different to how we imagine him today, but works none the less. Jack Nicholson is fantastic as the Joker but doesn’t manage to reach the same heights as those in the current day, while Kim Basinger brings to life a great female lead. However, it is most others within the supporting cast that really lack acting ability and would be due recasting.
.
Generally, the movie didn’t disappoint and did most things a batman movie is meant to do, though the action was the main thing that let down the overall movie.

🎞 “Ad Astra” (2019)
🎥 dir. James Gray
⬇️
The intriguing title comes from the Latin phrase, “Per aspera ad astra”, which translates to “Through hardships to the stars”. The film is exactly that: an emotionally captivating, terrifying journey deep into the cosmos. Narratively simplistic but so emotionally layered and powerfully told that its simplicity felt larger than space itself, Janes Gray directed this film like character study rather than a space epic. The story managed to focus primarily on the central character while introducing several intriguing space and planetary concepts that never stole the spotlight. While the original plot progressed slowly, the film constantly reminded the audience that its core reason to exist wasn’t the breathtaking visuals or the science behind it, but to show the physiological and physical damage of space. Brad Pitt gave one of the best performance of the year; so calm, so emotionally driven that his character felt so real. The trippy editing offered brilliant exposition for his character, and as he ventured through this epic journey, the subtle changes in his character felt so astronomically massive and saddening that the film became so intriguing to watch. It was already investing however, since the visuals were mind-blowing and absolutely gorgeous. The grainy cinematography and color-palettes matched the mature tone so perfectly, while showcasing truly some of the most haunting shots of the year. The shattering sound design and more importantly, the brilliant lack of it elevated the raw intensity and horrific atmosphere of space. The bone-chilling score boosted that intensity to new lengths as well. Unfortunately, this stunning film wasn’t without its flaws: some necessary narration was distracting at some quiet moments and there was one scene, albeit visually intense, that felt a bit out of place. Needless to say, “Ad Astra” was an emotionally enthralling, visually outstanding, strongly acted, and sincerely mesmerizing space drama that is no doubt one of the best of the year. 🚀

It was a slow burn beautifully shot tension filled, slightly heart breaking emotion filled experience. Made my blub twice 😢

Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻 #moviereviews #scifi #cinephile #instamovies #adastra

moviereviews Proxima was the second film I watched in TIFF 2019. It explored the conflict between the professional and parental obligation of a female astronaut. The film was very realistic and felt almost like a documentary. There were several fascinating recreations of actual space training programs and many scenes were shot in the biggest space centres in Europe. Eva Green played a role that was both physically and emotionally demanding and was good overall. The film also did a good job portraying the family part of an astronaut's life and it managed to move me a couple of times. It was a nice tribute to real life female astronauts who had made sacrifices for space exploration. However, it was a bit long for the story it was trying to tell. It wasn't boring but nothing huge really happened. Maybe this was the cost of being ultra realistic (which it excelled at) instead of writing dramatic fiction.

It was a nice tribute to real life female astronauts who had made sacrifices for space exploration. However, it was a bit long for the story it was trying to tell. It wasn't boring but nothing huge really happened. Maybe this was the cost of being ultra realistic (which it excelled at) instead of writing dramatic fiction.

moviereviews I saw this film last night and I have to say...I absolutely loved every minute of it. This is the Rambo I remembered and I'm glad they made this film. I'm going to say one thing since I have read these critics that mix this films with politics and bashing films because they don't understand. For one this film has nothing to do with politics. This film doesn't choose a side. The only side it chooses is vengence for a loved one. He does something we all would think if someone we loved was taken away from us by a small gang that doesn't care for a human life. If your a Rambo fan then you know what your in for. if your not then you will be looking for something that isn't there. This film is straight forward it's about struggle with one self and not being able to control something so horrible done to someone by really bad group of criminals that doesn't care. It shows the darks side of people and good. So it's a very entertaining film and with heart and bloodbath. My hats off to Stallone for taking a chance now a days. One thing for sure the trailers doesn't do this film justice. Watch the film for your self. You be the judge. Don't listen to the critics. They looking for something that isn't there. Now I am going to watch it again but on a bigger screen. This film is best watched on the biggest screen with an awsome sound system. #lionsgate #slyvesterstallone #rambo #rambolastblood #moviereviews #lionsgatefilms

Genre: Romance
Rating: 4/10
A man loses his mind after his college sweetheart gets married to someone else.
People have been going on about what an amazing movie it was and how relatable it was. It was the stupidest movie I have EVER SEEN. I love Shahid Kapoor but this was ridiculous. It was a prime example of a toxic relationship, everything ISN'T okay if you're in love, you don't abandon your family, your career and your whole identity just because the person you love left you or the circumstances weren't right. An addict needs an excuse to use, and they milk that excuse for as long as they can. Moreover, Sikhs are very proud people who have the highest number of honor killings ever recorded, if they find out their daughter has been intimate with a guy, they don't get her married off, they kill her. I hate to say this but it's the truth, it sucks but that's reality. The ending was literally, the WORST thing about the movie, tRuE lOvE cOnQuErS aLl. What a waste of time, worse than that, people have actually recommended the film and they swear by it. Trust me guys, don't waste your time, this movie is a load of crap. So, let me know what you think ❤️
It's available on Netflix

It's a very great subject with a hell of a bloody mess of a story of three mothers and their grownup sons. The movie is all about what happens when mothers go bat-shit-crazy, when their sons forget to wish them on Mother's Day and the time when the mother who brought them up for 18 years of their lives, has now become someone of a distant relative for them.

moviereviews Little Mermaid
The film that saved the Disney renaissance before its release it was a dark age for Disney animation as films like the Black Cauldron nearly caused the studio to shutdown but after much hard work it paid off in a big way as not only it was critical and box office hit but became one of Disney’s biggest icon as it soon get a crappy remake (I know they haven’t started given the crappy remakes we’ve given and they still made a ton of money they’re not gonna bring their A game.) but still it’s one of those movies like Lion King and Beauty and the Beast I would see if it got a rerelease in fact it was going to get 3D release but because the others flopped that got canceled, anyway let’s take a look.
I highly praise the films animation, artwork and world design as the environments looks amazing as every look and feel matches the tone of what you’re about to see rather it would be Ariel going around town matching the happy and goofy moments or Ursula’s lair matching the dark stuff, Jodi Bensen’s both acting and singing performance (which is a shame that she went though crappy projects after) as her voice is iconic when you think of Ariel you think of her voice, and there’s not one bad song the best ones are Part of Your World and Poor Unfortunate Souls as they’re all memorable and staple for Disney. I criticize the rest for the fact that Ariel sold herself for someone she doesn’t know and nearly doomed everyone and the fact that she’s rewarded for it as there’s consequences for everything that’s happened, some of the side characters I’m not a big fan of, and some of the animation looks too dark which seems to lather fixed in the Blu-Ray release as it got lighter and more clear and the one change where Ursula stabs first (ok that part I made up) Overall not flawless but still a good film.
While I do have some grips after all these years it’s still one of Disney’s best works and one of the most inconic films in animation after 30 years and when the crappy remake we know were gonna get is out, it’s still being seen by generation after generation.

moviereviews The Dead don’t Die

Adam Driver and Bill Murray star as small town police officers during a time when the dead come to life because of the earths tilt or lunar glow or whatever. DDD was a case of complete and utter false advertisement from its trailer trying to make you believe this is a Shawn of the Dead style of film. It’s not. I don’t know much about Jim Jarmusch’s films but apparently, he uses a certain style of long conversations and dull moments. Well he knocked it out of the park with this one successfully making the most boring zombie story ever. I get the suitableness of comedy and dry humor, but this was unbearable. Other then the zombies showing up and characters spattered all over the place, nothing really happened. A large portion of the movie is dedicated to 3 teens in some type of juvenile prison and they just run off and we never find out what happens to them. Why have them in the film? Jarmusch could have cut 10 to 15 minutes from the agonizing 1 hour and 45-minute runtime. The third act has some meta/ fourth wall breaking dialogue and one character even becoming an alien, trust me its all terrible. The only slight positive was the use of old school zombie effects. That’s it! Rotten Tomatoes score was a little better at 55% but I assume I’m not sophisticated enough to get Jarmusch’s humor but based on the putrid and decaying box office totals of only 6 million I’m in the majority.

Final Verdict:

0.5 out of 4 Bald Heads (A Turd)

moviereviews Dark Phoenix (2019) review: [4.5/10]

This is clearly, The worst X-Men movie yet.
The absolute worst X-Men flick.
Worse than The Last Stand.
Which was written by Simon Kinberg.
The same guy who wrote and directed Dark Phoenix.
I guess he just can't make a good X-Men movie huh?
He literally sucks in making X-Men movies.
Dark Phoenix was just the absolute worst.
I actually slept towards the end.
It was so dragging and very boring.
The storywriting was trash.
The only thing that was quite decent was the CGI.
It's decent, Not bad, Not great either.
The actings were not bad either.
Especially Sophie Turner's.
Not bad.
But other than those things, It was absolute garbage.
Storyline, Camera angles, The script.
All of them sucked.
Things are going pretty bad for the X-Men franchise.
Since now, Disney is going to cast either an asian or an african american for Magneto and Professor X.
Overall, This movie was an abomination.
The worst X-Men movie of all time.
Storyline was terrible, Basic plot and even the camera angles sucked.
The only thing decent was the CGI, and a few stuff.
Like the tracks that were composed by Hans Zimmer.
The characters didn't had enough screentime, and all of them were dissapointing.
Let's just hope Disney won't make the X-Men franchise worse than now.
-
Fun Fact: Production on the film wrapped on the same day that Deadpool 2 (2018) wrapped.

Dark Phoenix (2019) review: [4.5/10] This is clearly, The worst X-Men movie yet. - Fun Fact: Production on the film wrapped on the same day that Deadpool 2 (2018) wrapped. - #moviereview #netflix #movies #film #filmreview #review #cinema #moviereviews #films #moviebuff #reviews #movietime #movienight #movielover #cinephile #moviecritic #filmreviews #horror #creed #hollywood #filmcritic #anime #critic #podcast #comedy #movieaddict #moviegeek #filmbuff #movieposter #darkphoenix

moviereviews I went to see the film “Ad Astra” starring Brad Pitt.
.
.
DescriptionThirty years ago, Clifford McBride led a voyage into deep space, but the ship and crew were never heard from again. Now his son -- a fearless astronaut -- must embark on a daring mission to Neptune to uncover the truth about his missing father and a mysterious power surge that threatens the stability of the universe.
.
.
Rating: 7.2/10
.
Solid cinematography and tone, but plain plot prevent this film from being great. I’m an avid fan of space films and Ad Astra follows that. James Gray does a great job capturing the silence and emptiness of space. Music and scores are fanatic as they are in many space films. Some I’d even consider Oscar worthy. Acting was good, but not great. The film rest on Brad Pitts shoulder and I believe he does the best he could, but nothing worth mentioning. Tone of the film reflective the loneliness of space and the emotions of Pitt’s character. Overall, good film, but there were some missed opportunities that could have made this film great. Check it out and let me know what you think.

moviereviews Marcello is the main character of a decidedly interesting life of a personable poor and somewhat timid Italian man, whose two passions are his young daughter and the dogs that he grooms and sometimes competes with in dog shows. The poor neighborhood, has the usual Italian toughs who sun themselves at the bars near the beach. Into this vibrant mix comes Simone who is an ex-boxer whose only language seems to be one of violence. Simone tends to use Marcello for his petty crimes and also for Marcello’s small time dealing of cocaine. Much of the neighborhoods consternation concerns the bully Simone who ends most difficult conversations or arguments with his fists. Marcello, finely portrayed by actor Marcello Fonte, is well liked in the neighborhood, but after a heist gone wrong he is left holding the bag and Simone, is free to roam, causing Marcello to wonder at his reward. With no reward coming and some more trouble between the two, Marcello continues with his ill omened relationship with Simone. The movie portrays a good and simple man, Marcello, who is just wanting to live his life, but is cursed with passive criminal tendencies. One can clearly see that Simone is an experienced fighter, that he’s going nowhere fast but doesn’t see or care what’s in store for his leisurely animosity in the future. Such a man isn’t likely to see the ‘evil eye’ upon him as he is enticed into a further ploy by Marcello.
7.6 Out Of 10

The back and forth between Marcello and Simone is mesmerizing in its brutal practice, and like many a bully, the artful Simone, who goes through the film with minor injuries never sees the bad fortune hovering above him. The movie’s ending I did not much care for, but that I’ll have to accept. Dogman is a superior film that will keep you watching for what happens next.

moviereviews [ IT CHAPTER TWO ]

RETRO REVIEW : DEJA VU (2006) PG-13
CAST :DENZEL WASHINGTON VAL KILMER
PAULA PATTON JIM CAVIEZEL MATT CRAVEN
BRUCE GREENWOOD ADAM GOLDBERG
DIRECTOR : TONY SCOTT
THE JIST : Someone blows up a New Orleans ferry. An ATF Agent meets a team of scientists that tell him they can see and possibly travel, four and a half days into the past to stop it. Aaannnnd that is about all I can say that will make any sort of sense here. Absolutely LOVED this movie. First, one of my favorite Denzel performances as I rifle through his catalogue here recently. Val Kilmer even shows up to play. This is one of the very few movies dealing with time travel that I feel nailed it. Yes, I know it is theoretically impossible, but let's say it could happen. I feel the chain of events, the been there done that Deja vu of it all, holds up and would happen just that way. Very very clever, a solid human story and even a dash of love.
I had an absolute blast with this and am shocked I let my last viewing of this occur almost a decade ago. Tony Scott is all over this film and watching a few of his recently too (REVENGE), I feel his absence even more now. A brilliantly conceived and executed film and one of WASHINGTON's best performances.
GRADE : 9.1/10

MOVIE REVIEW: PACIFIC RIM UPRISING (2018). RATED. PG-13
CAST : JOHN BOYEGA CHARLIE DAY.
SCOTT EASTWOOD. RINKO KIKUCHI
DIRECTOR: STEVEN S DEKNIGHT
THE JIST : Its been some time since humanity kicked some kaiju booty and closed the breach for good. (If you don't know what that means you have no business seeing this film- watch the superior 1st PR. THEN watch its sequel. Jaegers, the man built super robots that two pilots control with their minds known as drifting, are nearly obsolete and the biggest problem seems to be the wrong people wanting to use them to do not so good things. To explain much of anything here beyond that is an exercise in futility, so I won't attempt to. Here what you need :
Is it better than the first Pacific Rim? No
It is SERIOUSLY missing Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and Ron Perlman. Not to mention, original director/creator Guillermo Del Toro.
Is it downright bad? No. In fact, there are some amazing effects on display and full on bad ass daytime fight sequences that audiences have begged for. Add to that some really interesting places the story takes you tying the old to the new as well as where the franchise may go next. Cool stuff. The best thing about it besides that is the always fun Charlie Day. The worst thing?? Hands down Scott Eastwood ughhh. Damn near killed the whole thing. I know WHY we have been seeing him since in a bunch of stuff now and it's name recognition and name recognition only. This guy could suck the life out of a room faster than the vacuum of space.
Other than that, a pretty fun time in the land of Godzilla versus Transformers
