The end result will happen regardless just put the work in and it will still happen so no need to stress over it.

mentalhealthawareness Today I have a little bit quiet than usual. I am so grateful for the messages I have got asking am I ok and that you miss my stories but the thing is I’m not ok. I’m the first to tell you when I’m having my bad day but today I couldn’t even come on and tell you that. Right now this whole day I feel deflated, tired, stressed, just not ok! My hair is doing my head in, my skin is annoying me because I don’t have any tan on I’m lacking in confidence. I thought taking today would help me. I had to come back to bed at one point because how low I was feeling. I try and be the strongest I can be but sometimes you just have to stop being brave and try and look at yourself from the outside. Anxiety and depression is one of the hardest things I’ve had to face and battle in my life and by god I thought I went through enough. I’m trying to make myself a better mum, wife and person and this is why I’m so open about my mental health journey. I’m here to tell you I’m having a really rough day. I’m having the worst headaches and thoughts and it’s ok for those to say it’s going be ok, tomorrow is a new day and just sleep or take some tablets but when your in this frame of mind it’s very hard. Don’t get me wrong I know that tomorrow is a new day and I could be a lot better but right now I’m telling myself “it’s ok not to be ok” If you’ve had a tough day like myself please know we are in this together. If you’ve had a good day I’m so happy for you and so glad some people will have a good day. Tomorrow I am going to make a point of ringing the doctor and trying to see if I can get any different or stronger anti-depressants and also help with these migraines. I am having more bad days than good days and after looking back on them bad days I think it’s time to have a chat with the doctor. I’m not ashamed of the battle I’m fighting. I can only be proud of myself for trying to become a better person for my son, husband and myself. Please just know you are not alone. I’m always here on my good days and bad days. "Why do I love being a therapist... this is a hard question! I think a big part of why I love it is because I love psychology and learning more about why we do what we do. I was that kid in junior high and high school who was always reading those dark young adult fiction books about mental illness (which didn't concern my mother at all... lol). ▪︎
I think it is so healing to give people language for their experiences and offer them a place of non-judgment and unconditional positive regard. Last, I love being able to offer a different PERSPECTIVE. I would say perspective is the main point of therapy. I love seeing client's faces when they say, "Hm... I've never thought about it like that before." I always joke with my husband that in those moments I am internally I am going wild like, "YES OH MY GOSH THIS IS THE BEST FEELING" but outside I have to be all calm and collected and just nod my head 😂

This week @thementalhealthmanager talks about how you can be tethered to negative mindsets based off of your friends. If you do not have good friends, you can be tethered and develop a negative perception of self. 
Here are the warning signs in friendships that may not be healthy. 
1) The friendship is not two-sided. YES. Your friends are human and there are going to be times when they can’t contribute as much as you do. NO this should not be the entire behavior of the friendship. This will lead to mental, physical and emotion exhaustion and could potentially lead to the mindset of “I’m inadequate”. You are giving your all and still feel like you’re not doing enough. 
2) The friendship does not SHOW dependability and trustworthiness. YES there will be times when your friends can not answer to your beck and call NO they should not always be unavailable for the entire duration of the friendship. Dependability and trustworthiness must be a verb and not and adjective.

3) The friendship is always critical. YES your friends should challenge you and provide healthy feedback NO they should not be criticizing you to a point where you are afraid to share your challenges and celebrations.

That's something a lot of us still need to learn; it doesn't help that university is built up as the last chance to have the time of your life before the pressures of adulthood come crashing down. This easily leads to a different pressure altogether - the desire to feel okay, at the expense of how we truly feel. ⁣
We're all meant to experience the full range of emotions, not just whichever ones we deem correct, or that don't ruin our fun.⁣

It would be wonderful to feel on top of the world at all hours of the day, but it's sadly not that simple. The most we can do for now is remember that it's okay not to feel okay. It's normal to be scared of the days ahead, whichever year of your studies you're going into, and you're allowed to cry for literally any reason. Whether you've watched a sad film, argued with family, seen a picture of the cutest dog, or even just felt like you needed it: you do not have to justify your ups and downs to anyone but yourself ✨ - Owen⁣

I’m no “Recovery Coach”, but I do know what helped/helps me and thought I’d share. Orthorexia is running rampant in the fitness and eating disorder recovery community. If you feel defensive reading this, look at why you eat the safe foods you do. Would you as a child only eat the things you are currently eating? What foods do you miss from childhood? What’s stopping you from going to get those foods?

1. The first step is to be honest with yourself. Are you sticking to foods that don’t make you anxious or that the “wellness bloggers” have hyped up? Look at the foods you enjoyed pre ed or pre fitness lifestyle. Will you allow yourself to eat them now? It’s important to know the “why” behind your avoidance. 
2. Get the foods you like but avoid. By avoiding them, what are you truly accomplishing? You’re feeding the fear and keeping it strong. It’s holding power over you living. 
3. Eat the foods repetitively. Over days, weeks, months. Once it’s back in, you don’t cut it out. It can become a fear again if you stop eating it for too long. 
4. Start with one fear food at a time if you thrive on baby steps. If you’re a jump in type of person, get several. But whatever method you choose, ACT. 
5. If you fear eating out, make it a goal to go once a week. The longer you avoid challenging these fears, the longer you’ll be sitting at home with your Ed in control missing out on loved ones and experiences. -

mentalhealthawareness Haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been really delving into darkness during this break up. Also, I’ve been reframing the idea of BPD as a mental illness into just a specific kind of childhood trauma, possibly having stronger effects on sensitive people or people with a lot of open centers in their HD chart like me.
This reframing has shown me that BPD may not be the terminal illness that it’s treated as. Childhood trauma is absolutely trancendable, as I’ve been experiencing in myself through going into this darkness. My urges to do anything in order to not be without a romantic partner have been showing up and by watching them, I’ve gained major insights into where they come from in my past (BPD/toxic upbringing) and have been able to transcend these conditionings by not acting on them.
I believe BPD is curable. So if this idea of mental illness has you stuck identifying with your patterns and thoughts, I encourage you to reframe it into something can can be transformed with awareness and will to grow or of survival techniques that are no longer needed. We are here to thrive, not just survive. 
Shift your mindset into one of worthiness and watch as your inner and outer worlds shift to match your new knowing.

Had a night full of anxiety, bad sleep disruptive habits and rude awakening before a dream of my ex could go on any further.⁣

I need... i’d like to not do these bad habits anymore. To resort to them whenever I fill with anxiety, fear and self deprecation, all on top of grief.⁣

I did a lot of loving things yesterday though. Things I’m happy about. Spent hours with the ocean on a jetty. ⁣
⁣
Went to a food place and talked alot with strangers. By the time i finished eating enough to feel i have a 6 month old food baby, i apparently reached my limit of social interaction cus i started feeling very anxious. I couldn't even write anymore and just wanted to leave and isolate.⁣
⁣
Kinda explains why i felt so anxious in bed come to think of it. ⁣
⁣
I’m feeling very foggy and dissociated today... ⁣
i think it’s because of bottled up pain from grief. ⁣
⁣
I don’t like this feeling. Either feeling. ⁣
⁣
So I’m going to have to make some time to let this out...⁣
⁣
It’s weird to feel both worthless, fearful, sad, but foggy and numb to it all at the same time... Feels like a cold but without the cold? ⁣
⁣
I’m just going to try prioritizing on what’s in front of me now.⁣
⁣
Volunteering, guiding visitors, saying hello to people and fanning myself when it gets hot with my fan that I got from Japan.⁣
⁣
Love this fan. Lot of fond memories. The box it was packed in had a coaster that I got from a market in Kyoto. It’s just a solid piece of finely sanded aged cedar with a beautiful grey hue and a strong scent that reminds me of the serene temples I traveled to.⁣
⁣
Every time I blow my fan now, i smell cedar. ⁣
⁣
Hopefully this and my bottle of chrysanthemum tea will calm my nerves until i have privacy to let out and heal my mind and heart.⁣
⁣
Wishing relief and healing for all the warriors, fighters, and people in general who are suffering anything in life right now. ⁣
⁣
This one day or many days of hardship does not define your entire worth to live and love. The future is always uncertain, and sometimes that can be a good thing.⁣

Between an unhappy home life and that artist’s sixth-sense for when things aren’t right in the world, depression was a constant, and beyond a lingering teenage demand for freedom of dress, I was awkward on camera and didn’t care how I looked. That happens when you grow up thinking being pretty isn’t something you can do. In 2011 I was where a lot of kids are now (please note the pentacle necklace 😎): in college, depressed, goth-alternative, and witchy. Lots of things happened in the following years, and 2015 was when I first embraced new age spirituality. By 2019, I was a different person completely. The same, but completely, completely different. I still demand freedom of dress and am awkward on camera. I’m wearing some aventurine as we speak.

Why am I typing this? No reason. I’m not going to pump your eyes with “it gets better” because that’s condescending and too simplistic. If you’re depressed now, I stand where you are, too. It does get better: at times, and that’s a very good thing. There are good times and bad times, but the best times are the in-between times. You don’t get those when you’re stuck in the kind of all-or-nothing thinking that makes depression. All those beautiful shades of life color that defy labels and meaning: live for those. 👌 You can’t read about those in a book, because they’re beyond description. Beyond photographs. You gotta check them out yourself. You should be there to see them. And tell me all about them, later. xo .

I had my tea and chick flick and enjoyed both but I'm still feeling exhausted, my mind has begun the story making and overthinking games 🙈 I am going to put on my Calm app, meditate for a bit and then fall asleep to its calming music. Night all.

mentalhealthawareness Hey hey - Happy Sunday!! ☀️ What are you up to today? I have been running errands, grocery shopping, & brunching with friends 🥂 & vlogging! 📷

I shared a little bit in my IG story yesterday, but the past couple of weeks haven’t been the best for me personally / mentally (on and off). It could be a combination of lack of sleep from having a new, not-housebroken puppy and the massive amounts of rainy days we’ve had here that had me feeling cooped up, or the hormonal migraines I’ve been getting and lack of exercise or even mercury in retrograde 💫🤷🏼‍♀️, but I was riding the struggle bus (more than I usually do anyways... 🤣) & wasn’t feeling like myself. It wasn’t fun but I’m sharing this with you because I think it’s important to show that we all struggle, have bad days, and to help normalize mental health issues. You are not alone in that. 👫

I’ve been doing a lot of mindset work though - journaling, meditating, reading, tracking my moods & writing down what I’m grateful for. That’s been helping. And sometimes these things just come in phases & then they pass. The past couple days I’ve felt quite a bit better. I finally mustered up the energy to work out. I put myself together a bit more. I got back into being creative & making videos. All things that make me happy! One of the frustrating things about mental illness is how much of a vicious cycle it puts you in. You’re sad and tired and have no energy to do the things that make you happy, so in turn you get even more sad and tired and it keeps going around and around. I don’t have any secret tips to help you push through that, but I can tell you that it’s possible to do so. I can tell you to keep trying. And have a little grace with yourself. I hope you are having a good day today! 💓

mentalhealthawareness I’ve been using lots and lots of dbt skills! Even got complimented by my group leader and therapist for how far I am mental health wise for someone my age! Best compliment ever ❤️ it’s a small victory in the huge step to recovery for my ultimate goals! Be proud of your little accomplishments sometimes they matter more than the big ones and hey they deserve to be proud of too(: any positive change is a good change and is worth celebrating. Even if you only got out of bed this morning I AM SO PROUD OF YOU.
