mentalhealth I have always struggled with anxiety and I do think it has impacted my children, especially my toddler son, who has very sensitive emotions. Hello, mom-guilt. It has definitely gotten better since I became a stay-at-home mom, though. I try to take it day by day, breathe, and do better.

You will never get anywhere in life by complaining about your current situation. If you want a life you’re proud of, take it. Work hard for it. Do what you love because you love it - not because it’s proving someone wrong or rebellious in nature. :
Get whatever piercings you want. I’m confident the factors that are supposed to be a part of your life won’t care if you have a hole in your face. :
You are beautiful, kind and so completely in tune with the world around you (much more than you know). Frida Kahlo had a Unibrow and she is one of the most well-regarded women in history. Sorry to say it, but you stay short. Luckily, the world is more accepting of all different shapes and sizes and while we still have a long way to go - the world does NOT hate you because you’re naturally tiny. :
Keep watching Oprah, she becomes what seems like your only life line at certain points. But that’s not true either because you have more people on your side than you realize. They will come to you when they are supposed to. Be patient. :
Life is happening ON PURPOSE therefore you should be going about life with A PURPOSE. Losing site of what matters can get you into real trouble. :

End the stigma that seeking mental health guidance and treatment is anything extraordinary. Therapy can be 2 sessions on coping skills or 16 sessions to work through a transition or difficulty in your life. That’s as little as four months if you go every week! 4 months of therapy that sets you up for a lifetime of mental health. Worth it or nah? mentalhealth 11 years sober today. It’s weird because while it’s a huge accomplishment and tick of another year, it sort of feels like this is just my lifestyle at this point and there is no struggle or second guessing it.

Drinking or using drugs has become so unappealing to me that I couldn’t imagine being under the influence. I can honestly say it sounds terrible to me now, and finally.

The key for me has been creating a life I don’t want to escape and every day I wake up into a life that I love, even though bad things still happen.

The difference for me now is that I know how to handle my emotions, I know who I am, I know what I stand for and I own it now in ways I never knew I would or could.

Lucky number 11, I’m here for all of it. There’s no more checking out of my life and instead there’s only checking IN... to the spa.✌🏼

mentalhealth These pictures tell a story. I decided to put all of my pain into art and this is what these photos are. This year has been one of the hardest years I have been through. It seemed like everywhere I turned I was failing. I let so many people take pieces of me knowing I would never get those pieces back. My body kept on telling me to stop. I was really sick 3 times my anxiety was so bad I didn’t even want to leave my house and I was waking up from panic attacks. I was hiding all of my pain from my family and friends. A fake smile just became the norm for me. Finally, one day I decided enough is enough and I wouldn’t let my anxiety or anyone else control me. I opened up to everyone that loves me and they had my back 100%. I wouldn’t know what to do without my friends and my family. They love me for me. I still fight my anxiety and fears everyday, but I know I’m going to be ok. If you or someone you know is fighting something please just be there for them. mentalhealth This last week has been super busy, so just taking a moment to breath and appreciate. Stress is something that affects us all, in clinic and on the shop floor it is easily the thing I help people with the most. 
Many times you may only notice your anxiety has heightened a bit, headaches, inability to concentrate, everyone is annoying and the ability to either not go to sleep easily or wake during the night and find it hard to go back to sleep.

Everyday life stresses can trigger our sympathetic nervous system into fight or flight mode. Our body will go through more B vitamins and magnesium as they are needed as co factors for many of our neurotransmitters that help us to feel calm and muscle relaxation. For women you may notice a drop in your iron levels as it is another co factor. Many people will supplement 5-HTP, but if your body does not have enough of the correct co factors you may only experience minimal relief. This is where long term stress can affect our mental well being with anxiety or depression.

The fight or flight response also triggers the adrenal glands to produce adrenaline to help give us the spurt of energy we need to get through our day. For many this is where they may loose weight also. Short term this can be helpful. Long term this can leave us really exhausted. Cortisol is the hormone produced for longer term stress. It elevates our blood sugars and increases abdominal weight gain. We can be constantly tired and coffee may initially have been helpful, but long term can increase tiredness as well as blood sugars. This can be were even after a good nights sleep you still feel tired.

Long term stress increases inflammation in the body, which is why you can experience aches and pains when your stress increases. This maybe more noticeable if you already have an inflammatory condition.

So what can we do to help ourselves? 
A good quality B complex is going to help to support your nervous system. Most B's are water soluble so they are not stored in the body. It is really important to replace them daily if you can. It is important to take them in the morning with your breakfast as they also aid in energy production - having them at night will n

Addiction is something that I know too well.
Addiction is something that took my life so young. Addiction is the scar on my arm from the needle of my friends father when I was a child.
It is self harm scars and cuts every inch of my limbs. Its hidden razors in my room everywhere. Its keeping razors on me even when I'm having a good day because "just in case" It's binge eating and weighing myself and starving and exercising. It's my stepdad smoking two packs a day. It is what I'm addicted to that kills me every day. But its also the way you remind me it's okay. It's her lips and the way you kiss. It's the love from my friends. The way we talk. Its addiction to love and nature and art. The air I breathe and the love I receive.
It's also an addiction to recovery.

mentalhealth Even if you are someone perfectly appropriate & kind , if you’re still thinking negative things , it doesn’t matter if you’re not saying them . They are a part of your heart & who you are 
We all have “passing thoughts “ which are mean or negative things we think but go away in a few seconds & we don’t say. So if you think mean things about others , even in the form of passing thoughts , how can you get upset with a realist for speaking openly about it ?

Transparency is a gift , don’t expect it from cheap people 
If someone won’t give you the gift of transparency , it’s almost a “F*ck you” because they don’t care enough to spell things out directly 
being direct reduces anxiety & makes you feel like you are in control of your own life

mentalhealth Okay, so here are some transformations for y’all & I’m going to explain them for you guys so you see why even the ones that don’t look super different have a lot of differences🤷🏻‍♀️
1) October 2018 - August 2019
Clearly this one is weight related, and I’ve definitely lost pounds. But more than that, all I remember from the left photo was being yelled at for  spending time with my friends instead of staying in my dorm room and giving the girl I was dating all my attention... and plot twist: life gets better for me 🤗
2) June 2018 - August 2019
Both are hiking photos & though the weight differences don’t appear to be very different, I weigh around 30 pounds less now. More than that, I’m happier & im taking significantly better care of my body💪🏼
3) August 2017 - August 2019
I talk often about how “2 summers ago I lost a bunch of weight!!” & at that time I was so proud of myself and thought I was hot shitttttt. But, sometimes I don’t give myself much credit for my progress this year so far. I think I look just about the same (maybe lil slimmer now) so I think it’s time for me to appreciate myself more😤

My mental health hasn’t been the best the past 48 hours. I felt like I couldn’t leave the house; but guess what? I did. I had an amazing day with my dad and enjoyed a baseball game. 🌜

mentalhealth Deactivated my social media to take the time to focus on me and my up and coming bodybuilding competition and give it my 💯 with full force and give my mentality a check because social media would consume everything so I just decided to take a break and I feel like I can give a bit more.

I also took the time to think about any event or act that I felt bad about, that I  really regret it took place and if I had to do it all over again, I would do it differently. I had to see myself in my minds eye and say “ I love my self unconditionally and I forgive myself, If I knew better I would’ve done better” and to anybody that has tried to hurt me or anyone l’ve disappointed either deliberately or inadvertently. “I forgive you unconditionally because none of us are perfect, all of us have made some mistakes and it’s not easy forgiving but I had to let it go so I can grow and be a better version of my self and damn that was a heavy load to let off☺️✌🏼🧘🏽‍♂️💕

mentalhealth After two years and a lot of doubting myself, I finally hitted the platform weighing in at 46.3kg/101.8lbs and into the 47kg weight class. I hit a 95.5kg/210 squat, 50kg/110lbs bench, and my biggest goal a 140kg/308lbs deadlift!!! Plus, I won the gold for my weight class going 9/9. 
I can't believe how good and smooth my meet went, but honestly I could not have done it without the help of my coaches: @kyle_projectstrength, @theprojectstrength and most of all for this four people @myo_goliath , @stephearlstrong, @christopherfierro_ , and @erikgome.z whom help me so much mentally throughout my cut and during my meet. I would had honestly given up on it if had not been for them! Thank you so much @usapowerlifting for having such a great meet and a super amazing environment!

After two years and a lot of doubting myself, I finally hitted the platform weighing in at 46.3kg/101.8lbs and into the 47kg weight class. I hit a 95.5kg/210 squat, 50kg/110lbs bench, and my biggest goal a 140kg/308lbs deadlift!!! Plus, I won the gold for my weight class going 9/9. mentalhealth SO! Been going through a rare period of mental stability so thought this was the perfect first post (despite the fact I have zero followers lmao). Needed an outlet and a meme page seemed to make sense in lieu of some journal. 
Life doesn’t complete suck for now tho, thank God for that lmaoo (but my standards for how well i should be are so fuckin low so WELL WHO KNOWS)

Lets talk about cheat meals for a minute

First of all this was todays dinner afterwork! Planned thoughtfully ahead of time for todays #sushitrain comfort.

Why do you allow this monstrosity of event?
Simply put, a psychological break from keto. Not everyone around you does keto, so its fair to give in once in awhile. Enjoy life’s simple pleasures, your loved ones will be happy to know you can ease up a bit. Feed the psyche once in awhile. I typically choose good cheat meals rather than loading up on junk food, if junk food is the route you take keep it moderated. Often times when we allow us respite we can cave in and let loose. I admit, it has happened to me. I ate all the popcorn, bag of chips, and the entirety of that donut. Were human right 🤷🏻‍♂️ thats okay lets move on like it never happened, reset

When should I start integrating cheat meals? 
Once you are truly fat adapted and you know your body’s consistency in producing ketones. I advise not to allow cheat meals when youre still fresh in the keto game. Give your body time to become fat adapted. Follow the fundamentals of the ketogenic lifestyle. Once youve established a baseline routine and crushed set goals left and right lets think about planned cheat meals. Youv’e worked so hard to get where your at, let go a little. Helpful tool that helped gauge my decision making for a cheat meal are blood sugar and ketone checks. Consistency is key.

Typically on special days and sometimes every 2 weeks (14 days) to once or twice a month. My choice for cheats winds down mainly on my mood and most certainly on the type of occasion. Some months cheat meals are never warranted because im so in-tuned with the lifestyle. When all is said and done  carry on the next day like nothing happened and get right back into the swing of things. Remember your why, remember your purpose.

Yesterday I was reminded that when you decide to pack up your life, say goodbye to what is comfortable and familiar and embark on a new adventure, new chapter, new life...that is an act of bravery.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do not minimize the steps you have taken to get to whatever point or place you are at in this moment. Do not get upset when your expectations don’t necessary meet the reality before you. You will experience highs and lows no matter who you are or where you go, so focus on the moment you are in rather than constantly trying to perfect it or live up to the socially-constructed “highlight reel” we’ve so foolishly created.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because what I’m coming to learn is that striving for perfection or being a “perfectionist” doesn’t make you relatable and in fact it robs you from taking part in the communal human experience. Maybe if we shared our lows more openly, we would realize we aren’t the first or only person to experience these moments of darkness. Maybe it would remind us that we’re all human and sometimes life gets messy and uncomfortable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But there’s always someone else who’s been through something similar. There’s always an ear ready to listen, always a hand to help you up and hold your aching heart for awhile. You don’t have to suffer alone and sometimes your mind can become a very dark place. So share your lows as well as celebrating your highs. Stop holding out waiting for the perfect moment, perfect picture, perfect word. 
Just BE. 
Share. 
Relate. 
Connect. 
The world is waiting with open arms. 
Being is bravery.
