Here I gave myself a 10% drop off. Sadly I am just too explosive, strong , fit and fast and I didn’t reach the 10%. It’s definitely not because the base reading was too slow, it is definitely because I am too strong and fast. Haters will say other wise! -

On a serious note; velocity drop off is a great tool for controlling fatigue in the athlete and make sure they won’t be too messed up for skills work later in the day! -

Georgia is working a modified contrast session with back squats and split squat jumps (focusing on generating power from the lead leg). -

This is worked in the rest periods for 2minutes a time. Obviously with the numbers not changing we are expecting Georgia to remember the first few numbers and run through them pretty easy. Because of this I make it slightly harder each time. -

-First set she is standing still moving through the grid
-Then we keep her moving while looking for the numbers
-Finally I start give give her a count down so as she is looking for numbers on the grid I am also telling her numbers she has to ignore and keep her mind on the task in hand.

We want to make sure we are not throwing the body in two different directions so the whole session was run to 10second intervals with long rest periods. In between trap bar jump sets they would complete some not so fatiguing accessories and rest as long as needed to be able to complete the same amount of reps (if not more) than the previous set. -

Now if you look back at my last post, I did complete more reps than all these guys, this shows how important movement efficiency is with these lifts and high velocity training. I am certainly not fitter than these guys but I have done the movements for a lot longer. #sportscience #jumptraining #strengthandconditioning
