About a month ago, I wrote an article about the importance of mental health awareness within our African community.
As a mental health advocate, there’s a lot of challenges I face. It’s really hard to address this topic in Ghana because over half of the population do not even believe mental health illness is a real thing.
A lot of people do not know about anxiety disorders, depression, mood swings bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, ADHD, sleep and eating disorders and other psychotic disorders and whatnot. So it’s like, where do you even begin? After my event in December about mental health, (which was very successful! Thankful!!) I’ve been working on another short film with some
incredible people! Also, I’ve been writing articles!
I want to say a huge thank you to the media in Ghana for publishing my article and helping me raise awareness! I didn’t expect all these platform to support my cause but I am grateful!! Type in “Kuukua Eshun - Let’s talk about mental health in our African community” to read the entire article! Also, if you haven’t already checked out the link in my bio to watch my short film... “Stranger To Your Seed” which is also about mental health. You totally should!

~Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.~

My short film “ Stranger To Your Seed” is finally available to the public on YouTube!!!
(Link in my bio)
Last year December, I premiered it and I was honestly moved by the number of people who showed up. A lot of you guys have requested to see it! This short film is very important to me, it took a lot to put it out there because it’s a true story. My story, my scars, my naked self.
I hope it brings healing to a lot of people like it brought to me.

I prayed for you.
I wrote letters and poems into space...
without seeing your face, hearing your voice, knowing who you are.
I prayed for a man like you.
Christ like in every single sense.
In my letters, I described how much I was yearning to taste your sweet love and you taste mine.
1 year 10 months since God blessed me with you.
Beautiful incredible man!
I love you beyond what my words can say.
Thankful and excited we have forever to be together. 💙
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!! Thank you @divadeliciousgh for such an empowering project! Honored to be a part of it.

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own backyard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.
Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history's shame
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.

She stands in all her splendor.
Her hair a curtain of silver rain,
her soft skin aglow in subliminal light.

When my mind stops working, all I do is feel.

“The artist; the act of love”
January 4th, 2016.
Nobody will ever love you as much as an artist can. On your worst days, we will find poetry in the knots of your hair. We create things out of emptiness. We see everything.
The tiny black dots on your knee, the scars on your back...you must have gotten that from falling from the tree house when you were three. Three, the number of beauty marks you have on your face. By your left eye, on the side of your nose and underneath your bottom lip.
You think you have dark brown eyes but I see how the mist in them forms a cloud that soon becomes rain.
Your eyes are often the light in the heart.
Sometimes it reminds me of the moonlight and other times it leaves me clueless.
You feel so warm.
Welcoming palms, always so soft.
The motion in which you move...plays in my mind over and over again.
Sometimes my mind draws empty invisible boxes around you.
I feel everything.
I know the difference between "I love you" when you mean hold me tight and kiss my lips and when you say "I love you" when you mean I never want to lose you. I want this forever and when you say "I love you" but you really mean "baby it's time for dinner."
All the beautiful little details you don't notice about yourself is what matters to me.
Is it because I am an Aritst, is why I feel or is it because I feel, is why I am an Artist ? .
