PCT DAY 34 | 27 Miles | The Sierras - Where thru-hiking becomes a team sport | It’s my first day in the Sierras and I’m absolutely loving it. The fear mongering and pressure of coordinating who you were going in with is behind me. In the 10 days leading up to the Sierras, I took 5 zeros so I could enter this section with a fun group I could trust. Everyone wanted to enter with Pocket since he got through the Sierras in June of 2017 (another high snow season) and has lots of other experience hiking through hard terrain. He’s an asset and he knows it 😜💗 I had no idea how badly I needed to get out of the desert until I entered this section. As soon as you leave Kennedy Meadows, the terrain changes drastically. Creeks or rivers every two miles, snow covered mountain peaks, chipmunks and marmots running around, huge trees and grassy meadows, fun terrain that brings on full body exhaustion. This place is special and is what backpacking is all about. I’m excited for what’s to come!

I still crack up whenever I see this photo😆 This was taken on our last day in Tofino after we had spent 4 days there. Every day had consisted of the typical west coast, wet, overcast weather that we’ve grown to love, however, I refused to leave without a proper beach day. So we grabbed our beach towel, walked down the empty beach, and sat on the wet sand while a windstorm started to pick up. It was the most stubborn and hilarious thing, but it was also amazingly peaceful. With no one around, we ended up falling asleep because we were so comfy laying out in the cold while all bundled up in our warm clothes. And that’s a big deal because I usually can’t sleep anywhere in public! - -
↟↟ What’s the weirdest place you’ve fallen asleep? Haha I really want to know!! 🤗😴
Understanding yourself and falling in love with yourself is more important than finding a soulmate. .
Most of us often spend important years of our life looking for 'that perfect person.' But are we even spending enough time to know who we are, what are our life goals, dreams and what makes us happy? Let's stop chasing things. Let's stop being afraid to be alone, 'coz you never really are alone, you have the precious you! Eventually, the right people may happen to you in the most unexpected ways, without the need of looking for it.🌞 Find happiness in yourself, and don't be dependent on someone else for it. .
Self love brings you everything you've been looking for. It's okay to prioritize yourself sometimes, you don't need to apologise for it. ♥️ .
It’s truly wild to us how respectful cyclists are treated as we travel the Eurovelo route. Most of the time we are on separate bike lanes and infrastructure (what?!). When we do share the road (like here), other road users are extremely courteous and slow. This has been the style both in small towns and in larger cities. #eurovel6#eurovelo#bikeaustria
Yesterday we ended in Tulln, Austria. Upon arriving, we learned that it is an internationally known garden town so we walked around and looked at flowers for two hours. It was a lot of fun to be surprised by this and the personalities of other small towns we have cycled through. We may not be seeing the major attractions listed in guidebooks but our style of touring lends itself to see things that traditional tourists cannot. #cycleaustria#bikethedanube#eurovelo6#tulln
