Does running or playing a running based sport count as training your legs? Well... nope! I heard 2 kids talking in the gym yesterday and all I heard was “nah, we don’t need to do legs tomorrow, we played soccer yesterday”. Sport depending it usually counts as an awesome cardiovascular workout but doesn’t do too much to strengthen and specifically train the leg muscles. That’s like saying I played tennis yesterday, I don’t need to train chest or shoulders this week! Training legs helps the rest of your muscles grow due to an increase in testosterone released into your body and more importantly is vital to help protect you against common injuries such as knee and lower back pain often caused by muscular imbalances. Today is a sad day today for me as it’s the last day I’m going to train with Sian. Over the last six months we have worked together to play around with my form in so many ways and she’s kept me enthused and engaged the whole time
The reason I stopped working out alone was that I knew this year was going to be rough (and it was more than I could have ever anticipated) and I knew I needed to keep exercising but the motivation would wane as things got tougher
And tougher they did get. Having a trainer was hands down one of the best things I did for myself as not only did she keep me happy and motivated but also she was always there to have a chat to twice a week about all the life drama. And I’m so thankful for that as I think I might have lost my mind otherwise
Tbh any exercise is great, but if you need that support find someone you click with and enjoy spending time with and it’ll make it all so easy! And if you’re new to working out it’ll be the best money you spend as it’ll set you up right .
I’m gonna miss her but I’m so excited for what’s to come for her! .
End of an era! But all things are transient, everything ends eventually that’s why you gotta appreciate the good stuff while you have it

I have been putting so much time and effort into myself over the last 5 weeks with a new nutrition plan and a new fitness program! I never stopped or doubted myself. I always have to just keep going and keep pushing my limits! #quadsquad#girlswhoeat@fitforlife_programming
Working out isn’t all about moving heavy weight. On my leg days, I always like to warm up with resistance bands. It really gets the blood flowing so that I can really work my glutes and hamstrings. Plus, it promotes great mind-muscle connection!🦵🧠
🤭 Listen... I know, I get it. I had excuses too! I didn’t have time to take care of myself. I had no energy to workout. I wasn’t motivated. I had NO money to get started (well... except for the fast food, coffee, Netflix, and useless things I would buy). I understand!
🤭 It isn’t until you REALLY want to change, that you’ll finally do it. You’ll find the means to make it work (like all the excuses I gave up). I found ways to eat healthy, by giving up the fast food. I found ways to get the tools I needed to improve my life, like giving up subscriptions for a little while. We found ways to MAKE this work!
🤭 Change is hard but it can happen if you are willing to trust and believe that you can do anything! What does you life look like right now? Are you ready to change?

Back to night shift tonight so that means back to meal prepping! 🙌🏻 Seriously all my nurse friends can attest... There is ALWAYS A FUCKING POTLUCK GOING ON AT THE HOSPITAL. 🤣🤣 so I like to prep and be prepared with healthy meals for each shift. Does that mean I'll never have a treat? Hell no. I indulge just like everyone else, but I don't let it completely derail me from my goals! ✌🏻️ You gotta prep yo'self so you don't wreck yo'self 😉

Last session before a max out day on Friday, then off to Malaysia on conference. 1 rep at 90% of intended total (excluding bench, where I convinced myself 90% of 110 is 101kg). Squat: 135kg, Bench: 101kg, Deadlift: 153kg.
Hopeful for some good PRs by the end of the week!

Fun fact: I’m blind. No... really. When I was a kid, a bully kicked a cactus into my face. The kind that looks “fuzzy”,.... but they’re actually bunches of tiny little needles. It really messed up my vision and it’s only getting progressively worse. Normally I wear contacts, but occasionally my eye gets scratched or infected forcing me to pull off the buff librarian look. But I hate it. Gives me a headache.
