Pro tip for training calves on the smith machine: I recommend a low bar positioning on this movement. The same concept that applies to back squats applies here. Placing the load lower on your traps and more over your posterior chain will recruit more of your calves and hammies. I know I’m doing this right when my entire posterior chain is lit up, glutes, hammies and calves. I learned most of my leg training from @eugen_di_nescu , @coachvince__ and @kyle.wilkes . Program has had to been modified and we are easing back into things. Have had a very shit last month of training so keen to start training without so many limitations and get back on track for a competition prep.
Barbell Lunges require a lot of balance and are pretty difficult if you haven’t done them in a while as they put you in an awkward position🤙🏽
On the stepping leg your quads are being emphasized and on the back leg your glutes and hamstrings are the ones burning🔥🔥🔥
Pick a lighter weight to start and look at the tips below, especially number 2️⃣, that’s some @kaigreene wisdom

TIPS FOR THIS EXERCISE:🙌🏽🙌🏽
1️⃣ Step slightly out to the side when you go forward
2️⃣ Make sure you press your knee outward when you lunge, activating your hamstrings and glutes
3️⃣ Keep the barbell wedged into your traps and keep great posture the whole movement
4️⃣ Try and focus on pressing through each foot equally when lunging
Great deadlift day today! Everything was feeling on point besides the acid reflux I had...so bracing was weird lol.
