I'm not alone.
I see you all here.
I'm fighting this.
I’m going HARD after my stuff in this season and it’s difficult. Leaning in to my imperfections, my mistakes, the things I’ve been avoiding for awhile... it’s time.
I don’t share my story much here, about my personal life. It’s usually done on my personal account @melanieharris79, but I’m going to share a little more with you from time to time because I want others to know that they’re not alone. That we’re all walking through life the best we can and we can all learn, support, help, and love one another. This account is meant for health and wellness and I’ve realized that supporting emotions and mental health should play a bigger role. 💗
I’ve been struggling with infertility for over 3 years. 3 long years of supplements, various treatments, traveling 7 hours round trip more times than I can count to see my RE, 4 failed IUI’s, and now undergoing IVF. #infertilitysucks and in many ways, it’s taken over my life. I’ve realized that these years have slowly changed me. Each month, each failed treatment, each breakdown... It’s impacted my relationships, my business, and my belief in myself.
I have a long way to go, but I’ve started the SAVERS protocol from the #themiraclemorning. Have you heard of this? The six parts of the routine are - silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, scribing.
The lack of belief in myself, the doubting, questioning... It’s the first thing I’m working on. So I’m grabbing my oil Believe and I’m meditating, saying my affirmations, and visualizing who I want to be each and every morning. I’m giving myself grace for the first time and boy is that new for me.
The hard work has just begun, but I’ve taken the first step. 😭

So often when moods are bad I just want to stay home. Sometimes I feel like I'm at the end of my rope, like I can only take so much, and leaving the house just sounds like too much work. But today it was as if the Lord was beckoning me outside. He made nature peaceful for a reason. As we walked, the kids' moods improved, and they enjoyed exploring while I enjoyed talking with the Lord, moving my legs and breathing the fresh air. Going outside is like a reset button for us, and this park is my favorite place to that. Do you have a special place to take a deep breath, gather your thoughts, and set a different mood for yourself?
A child drew pictures at school of happy, sad, and mad faces. The teacher raised concerns for the child’s expression through drawing, in particular, of the sad and mad characters. The teacher mentioned it to the parents, concerned and hoping for some answers. The parents asked the child about the drawings, and why the teacher might be concerned... The child replied “I like to draw all of the emotions, not just the happy ones.” This child’s emotional literacy skills & emotional intelligence are so clear. Of course, we express concern when a child draws sad/mad things, but this child taught the parents and the teacher a lesson... that we should be able to talk about sadness and madness just as often as we do happiness. This teacher’s concern is a step in the right direction... recognition is so powerful! Many teachers and parents express feeling at a loss when it comes to teaching the skills of emotion management.
We are always encouraged to “think happy thoughts” and “be happy”, without realizing we’re denying the very real truth of emotions. Tough emotions are a part of life, and while uncomfortable at times, are necessary to navigate. If we don’t draw these emotions when we’re young, or include them in the conversation, we are teaching children that they are not worthy of our attention. We need to teach our kids how to handle uncomfortable emotions.
Next post, we’ll give you tips on this very skill - teaching emotion management. Stay tuned!

💄 anyone else love their makeup!? I do and always have -but did you know it’s super necessary to wash your brushes often?! And OF COURSE with a toxic free brush cleaner.
Why wash brushes?! •Besides bacteria, brushes also accumulate dead skin cells and oil
•can clog your pores and lead to dull or broken out skin
•Clean brushes apply makeup better
•Even the best makeup can become streaky and patchy when applied with a dirty brush
•Clean bristles will assure a smoother application.
Challenges and pain in life are essential to building strength❤️... every struggle you go through you will learn to handle them easier as they come..... there’s always going to be something....that is life... we just need to learn ways of handling it❤️. One person I follow on Instagram @kerwinrae posted a great video about a butterfly breaking free from its cocoon. He explains if we help tear the cocoon from the butterfly so it can struggle less then the butterfly will die. The “struggle” out of the cocoon is NEEDED for survival of butterfly. So the struggle out of the cocoon is essential to help force the fluid into its wings as it beats its wings against the cocoon to stretch and open them so that the butterfly could fly.... the struggle out of the cocoon is essential for the wings so it can fly.... without it... it dies. Our experiences with pain and struggles in our lives is what helps us grow and shapes us to the person we are today.... it’s not the times of greatest and happiness in our lives that shows our true raw character but in times of despair, pain and struggles.... that’s the shit that makes us appreciate life and that’s where our transformation happens ❤️.... never take someone’s pain or struggles away.. they need to go through them....for their own self growth... just create a safe place and let them go through the process. #transformation#strength#courage#struggles#growth#selflove#safeplace#pain#emotionalhealth#holistichealth#mentalhealth#butterfly#yougotthis#goals#selfcare#transformation#health#strong#soulwork#higherself#fitnessmotivation#physicalfitness#kerwinrae

The interview is live now [Link in @maryb.safrit ’s bio!] 😬 We have a pretty vulnerable chat about my music and how it relates to faith, relational health, and healing 🧡 Hope u enjoy 😌
Here’s an important fact about emotions: Ignoring, escaping or avoiding them does NOT make them go away. Unprocessed feelings linger under the surface waiting for something to touch them off; then they come out even more powerfully. Makes you wonder why our culture insists on repressing every emotion that is thought to be negative - anger, for example. Our culture teaches us to convince ourselves that we’re not angry or sad or disappointed when we really are. In time, we don’t even recognize what we’re feeling because we never take the time to identify and process them. The longer and more successfully you avoid your feelings, the more powerful they become. Understanding this also helps us recognize that people who are involved in violent and often destructive acts rarely act spontaneously. There’s usually a lot of back story... of unprocessed emotions! Recognize your emotions and learn to process them. #emotionalawareness#emotionalhealth#emotionalgrowth#sidesteppingstigma

Reposted from @themindgeek (@get_regrann) 💭T R A U M A - B O N D
💭Notes on The Cycle of Abuse:
🧪The cycle of abuse can take place in ANY relationship, no matter what type of relationship it is, regardless of gender identity, sexuality, age etc.
🧪What we find within an abusive relationship [physical and/or emotional], is that loops of the cycle unfold quicker + more frequently. What once took ‘a lot’ or ‘a long time’ to go from calm to anger, continues to get shorter, and shorter, and shorter
🧪Eventually, we can cycle through this loop quite speedily; it begins to feel inevitable, like a devastating + dangerous reflex. We may often find ourselves thinking ‘How did we get here? When did this happen?’
🧪Within a trauma bond, our brains become hooked on the highs + lows of the relationship. It isn’t just an emotional attachment, it’s neurochemical
🧪Some ingredients responsible for our attachment to the abuser are:
🔸Oxytocin (bonding, love)
🔸Endogenous Opioids (pleasure, pain, dependence, withdrawal)
🔸Corticotropin- Releasing Factor (stress, withdrawal)
🔸Dopamine (craving, wanting, reward)
🧪These interactions make for a toxic cocktail; making us feel scared, loved, shame, happy, guilt, hopeful + in need of safety
🧪The crux of the trauma bond for the abused is, when we seek out comfort + safety, we typically seek it from our abuser
🔹The cycle of abuse can be difficult to confront, particularly if it’s something we’ve experienced or are actively experiencing. If this is something that’s happening/suspect is happening for you, take this as the sign, the prompt, the validation, to Seek Out help. Get support. Talk to someone. Tell someone. You’ve made it through the abuse, you W I L L make it through the recovery, without them. Cruelty of any kind is not the price we pay in order to receive an illusionary sense of love✨
💭Part 3 Tomorrow
I was talking with a friend today about contentment and the speed of life. It's always a temptation to compare our lives to those of other people, especially when it comes to age. "I don't have that degree..." "they bought a house and they're younger than me!" "I should be further along" "I should be making more money." Dang... when we give that up, and in a sense forgive ourselves for not being as far as we feel like we should have been by our current age...that's when we find contentment and more joy in the life we have. You're right where you should be. You're doing it. You're there. Such a good reminder that was today.

Yesterday I woke up during the night frieking out. I was having all these irrational thoughts about my little girl being taken and my mind was playing out these awful scenes.😱
It was my 3 yr olds first day back in daycare, we call it Early Learning here in Aus and it seemed thst I was having a mum's version of separation anxiety.😰
My heart was racing and I was scaring myself. I knew it was just my imagination and I also knew I needed to convince myself that she is safe. That I am safe.🥺
I had a choice to make. I could take my power back and take control of my thinking or let it get the better of me.🤺
I took my power back. I did some serious self talk and I even did some tapping to release the fear.🧘♀️
Energy healing doesn't have to be complex or time consuming to be powerful.⏰
What would you have done to release the fear?🤔
Have you ever been in this scenario?🙋♀️
I would love to hear your thoughts!💕
We all know how healthy it is to purge ourselves of things that no longer serve us, but it can be hard to have this same thought process when it comes to things we didn’t want to lose. Loss is difficult but it’s a part of the human experience that no one is exempt of. If you’re struggling through a loss right now think about how you can feel up that space in a more positive and beneficial way. This will help you to get more comfortable with moving forward ex. You just lost a romantic relationship, Yes it’s heartbreaking but it freed up space for you to re-evaluate your dating practices, your standards, and values other relationships , including the one with yourself and priorities etc all of this will allow you to learn and eventually find a more suitable and compatible partner. So although there was a lose it gave you space to grow.

Essential oils are more than just tools to support proactive and reactive physical care. Did you know that every oil also has an emotional benefit as well? It’s true! And while it’s important for us to be physically healthy in order to go about our everyday lives, our mental and emotional health is equally important. Let’s look at a just a few, shall we?
Blue Tansy-the oil of inspired action-provides a catalytic spark that overcomes the tendency to procrastinate, encourages you to live in alignment with the whispering of your inner voice, and invites manifestation of passion into action as a means to achieve your fullest potential. Roman Chamomile-the oil of spiritual purpose-supports the discovery of living your true life’s purpose, assists in feeling connected and supported by divine helpers, and calms insecurities about following your spiritual path.
Tea Tree (Melaleuca)-the oil of energetic boundaries-helps to clear negative energetic baggage, releases codependent and parasitic relationships, and empowers you to relinquish all forms of self-betrayal.
That’s some pretty powerful stuff right there! I don’t know about you, but I’ve got some BIG things planned for August, so I’ll be stocking up on these three and incorporating them into my daily routine. Plus, they’re all really great for the skin, so I just might achieve a radiant glow while I’m at it!

We had our first experience with diffusing & Young Living oils 5 years ago & oh how life changing it has been. Did you know that our sense of smell is the only way to reach the limbic part of our brain? This is the ‘control center’ for all things emotions. Ever smell something & it takes you back to a memory? No other senses can trigger us emotionally like that. Pretty cool huh? Our emotional health affects our physical health & is just as important ♥️
