As I was scrolling through some old pictures I came across this gem and couldn’t help but smile. This was easily one of the best sunrises I’ve ever seen and I don’t think it will ever get old.🌅

Last Sunday we visited our neighbors. It’s just amazing to live almost near the German border! This beautiful architectural piece is located in Kleve near the Museum Kurhaus Kleve. Have a nice day you all! 😁
The leuser ecosystem in Sumatra is one of the most diverse rainforest and mountainous terrains in the world. It’s home to the extremely endangered Sumatran rhino, Sumatran tiger, Asian elephants, the silver leaf monkey and of course the beautiful great ape- the orangutan.
In 2016 the aceh province banned forest decimation for palm oil plantations, but guess what, some corporations didn’t stop.
When I was last in the Genung leuser ecosystem a tiger had rushed a near by village to attack and eat a cow.
This is something that had not happened for decades. But deforestation has forced the tigers to become more bold and aggressive when it comes to feeding.
I have witnessed first hand the silver leaf monkeys (endemic to Sumatra) fleeing from the chainsaws.
There LESS than 100 Sumatran rhinos left in the wild. That is simply staggering. Law enforcement on these harsh crimes are way too soft. There needs to be more attention and light revealing the seriousness of these illegally operating palm oil companies. There is hope. Tourism provides a substantial amount of income into the area and makes the government aware of the ROI possibilities, whilst supporting the locals. So please if you get the chance visit the aceh genung leuser ecosystem and enjoy Sumatra while you still can.

Diffused light is not of much use, but when its energy is concentrated - as through a magnifying glass - that same light can set fire to paper. Focus its energy even more, as with a laser beam, and it has the power to cut through steel.
A clear sense of purpose enables you to focus your efforts away from distracted busyness to what matters most. Nowhere is this more important than in your work, and how you employ your skills, talents and time throughout your life." - Margie Warrell

Merry Christmas 2018! My wish this year is that everyone who reads this would have open hearts and minds to witness the daily miracles in life no matter how insignificant they seem. It doesn't even matter what your religion is, or if you even believe in God.
So glad I decided to trek approx. 15km today (albeit only getting 2 hr 55 mins of sleep). I was sharing over dinner last evening about how humans would never feel convinced about being blessed or that miracles exist, until they have had the experience first-hand.
Well today, I got reminded of how all things would fall into place when my shoe decided to die on me. I was less than 3km into the trail, but being stubborn as usual, I refused to give up and head back immediately. Around 10 mins later, I found 5 rubber bands miraculously scattered on the grounds of one random hut along the trail. And yes, I usually nag about people littering everywhere because I believe in protecting the Earth. Oh, what a contradiction.
P.s. I even posted a picture on IG story to show how I fitted the rubber bands onto my shoes. The shoes lasted 12km or more in that condition, until I finally reached the carpark.

The heart of man is very much like the sea, it has its storms, it has its tides and in its depths it has its pearls too. - Vincent van Gogh
